Emily Claire Murray

VIM Magazine is the exclusive fashion & lifestyle publication at Michigan State University. I started with VIM as a writer, was selected to be a copy editor and eventually earned the position of managing editor. I acquired a wide range of publishing skills, specifically pertaining to editing. I developed knowledge regarding aspects of magazine editing such as AP style guidelines, audience awareness and readability. In particular, as the managing editor, I became a leader while overseeing a team of editors and finalizing all developmental edits. This work demonstrates my well-rounded editing skills, leadership qualities and ability to succeed in the fast-paced, team-oriented work environment of magazine publishing.
